Iran, Pakistan navies held joint drill

TEHRAN, Oct. 01 (MNA) – The bilateral naval exercise of Iran and Pakistan began in Port of Karachi with attendance of the 43rd flotilla of Iran's Navy.

Following the necessary coordination between commanders of Iranian Navy’s 43rd fleet of warships and the Pakistan Navy, a joint maritime exercise between the two countries, with a focus on maritime rescue, got under way near the port of Karachi in Pakistan’s territorial waters.

Numerous exercises were carried out during the joint event including search and rescue training, vertical helicopter exchange, communication exercises using flags, lights, radiographs as well as formation and composition of floating units of Iran and Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning that the Iranian fleet at the joint maneuver comprised ‘Konarak’ logistic carrier, ‘Lavan’ chopper carrier, ‘Khanjar’ and ‘Falakhen’ missile boats in addition to an A-B helicopter.

Also during the four-day stay of Iranian Navy’s 43rd flotilla in the Port of Karachi, several other programs were held including a meeting with officials and commanders of the Paki navy as well as a visit to the floating units of the neighboring country in order to conduct educational and maritime exchanges.
